Summer Time!!

Summer is a great season (not my favorite one but…). There are so many wonderful things to do here on the North Fork.

When we were kids, we would pack the car and head out of Nassau County at 3 am toward the cool lakeside in Maine. It would take us 7 hours, but my parents being wise had us asleep for part of the trip leaving at that time. We would enjoy the farmstands, homemade ice cream, boating, swimming and then ~cool nights.

This was our family vacation until about 18 years ago when we moved to the North Fork. My husband and I looked at each other and knew there was no need to travel for any of those adventures. Our new home provided all we wanted and the convenience of home.

That being said, the amenities that come from the summer here on the North Fork are many. Listing everything would be silly. We know what we have here, and we know what brings in the crowds. My advice is to dig in deeper. We have live theater in Mattituck, the skating ring in Greenport, an observatory in Southold and Christmas in July in Cutchogue just to name a few.

Summer is the time to explore. Take full advantage of where we live. It’s a fun season to be here, that’s why it’s so busy. We have been found!! Happy Summer at home.
